Contents Reviews Version 1
Comparing contents pages
This contents page is taken from NME and uses lots of effects to make it stand out as a contents page. The main reasons why this style of content page attracts the reader into finding put about what is in store in the magazine is that it uses a lot of colour and pictures to catch the eye of the reader but also gives the information in clear easy to read writing. The importance of pictures is vital as it shows the reader who the main features are about in the magazine.
This next Contents page is from NME this I feel is the best contents page available because it is kept to simple and uses basic techniques to give a clear and well structured contents page as well as overlapping the text on the picture to give it a more professional look.
The Source uses in my opinion a plain and boring approach to making a contents page as they have only used 1 picture and have a simple writing style over the top of the pictures which does not catch the eye very well.

AIM: To consider a range of ways a DPS article can introduce an act and the effect the text could have on the reader. To decide what style, tone and approach you may take as a writer for my own.

Unit 51- Task 2
Copyright and Digital Permissions
What have I learnt
Images from existing sources
Existing Material: When I use photos from the internet I will have to make sure that in some way the picture shows where I got the picture from otherwise this is a breach of copyright laws. I will do this by checking that in the bottom corner of the picture that there is a company logo or the name of the company is on the picture in some way. If not then I will not be able to use the picture.
Websites that allow me to gain pictures at no expense
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
I have looked at the website Wikimedia and it will allows me to gain pictures to help me with my double page spread. This will help be as I can use the computer graphic they offer to make my double page spread more professional.
''You are free: Under the following conditions:

What have I learnt
- There is no such thing as electrical or digital copyright. However copyright will still protect images online on the internet.
- In the UK copyright protection can only be used in certain areas of work.
- The rules of copyright are: The work must be original- this means that it mustn't have been copied exactly from the original source of the information

Aim: To consider what the purpose of a DPS is and the key featureswithin them as an article
- A DPS or a double page spread is mostly seen in the direct middle of a magazine.
- A DPS will feature over 2 pages next to each other with a big recognizable picture with a full blown interview.
- The quotes in a DPS are usually enlarged to attract the reader into reading the article.
- Picture is usually on the left as it must attract the eye from left to right.
Looking in "The Trap" magazine.
I have chose to find double page spreads from the hip hop magazine "The Trap"
- ''Special Request'' about Paul Woodfords Hotflush Album
- ''Street Boutique'' discussing independent shops in London.
- ''Claude Vonstroke'' releasing his third album about inner city life
- ''I am Legion...For we are many'' Release on a 5 year album.
- ''Bringing it home'' discussing Rudimental reaching UK number 1 on their new single ''Home''.
Analysing a DPS about ''Bringing It Home'' about Rudimental
What does the headline suggest about the story?
The headline ''Bringing It Home'' suggests that the band Rudimental are returning to their home country or town with either some great awards or great news. This makes the reader want to read on to see what Rudimental have planned on their return to London.
What is the main message of this article?
The main message of this article is to let their readers know about Regimental's debut number 1 album ''Home''. They also use the article to discuss the details of the album which includes: Tracks on the album, it has just gone platinum, receiving a mercury prize nomination and their success up to date.
How does the first line try to interest you? The first line is ''As strange as it may seem to older readers, we live in a time when it's no longer unusual to switch on your TV or radio, walk into a high-street coffee shop or even dragged along to some dodgy nightclub on a work do and be greeted by what were once the underground strains of dance music blasting out in the back ground.''
