What do you

Tuesday, 22 October 2013

Aim: To explore and design mock-ups to aid the flat planning process

I can see that the way the advert is laid out that the advert is very neat. Companies need this so their target audience can easily find out about the product. As you can see all the important information is there for example: picture- to know what it looks like, Name- if they need to order it and item details- for all the facts.

The Title is big and bold which makes it very easy to read, The image is big and detailed

Tuesday, 8 October 2013

Aim: To identify thode involved in the creation of print media, investigate + troubleshoot potential issues prior to point

We need to be prepared for our photo-shoot so that everything goes right on the day, We don't want to turn up in the day without all the right equipment personnel facilities and location otherwise my magazine will not be complete on time and the images will be below par.

 Equipment
  • Camera
  • Tripod
  • Lights
  • Costumes
  • Laptop/computer
  • Make up
  • Props (cars, guns, fire)
  • Storage cards
  • Batteries
  • A weather forecast
  • Software
  • Gazebo
  • An effects app
  • Backgrounds
  • fog machines

Problems that could occur

There could be many problems that could disrupt my photo-shoot that I need to be prepared for. The first could be if I drop my camera and it breaks I will need to have a spare device to keep taking photos as well as a memory card to save the pictures I already have.

If the weather is bad on the day of the outdoor photo-shoot I will have to either bring equipment like gazebos and umbrellas to be able to take a good picture without the people getting wet.

       Facilities
  • Food
  • Drinks
  • Make up wipes
  • A location
  • Toilets
       Location
  • Back alleys
  • Alley ways
  • Fields
  • At a venue (maybe)
  • Car park
 Problems that may occur

If the council will not let me use my location I can create the next best thing and then photo shop the picture to make it look like my location

Personnel

  • Different type of races
  • between college
  • need back up people

Aim: To evaluate progress so far in decision making within this project.

Primary research-new investigations into something (questionnaires)
Secondary research- investigations made by others that you refer to (using information from magazine's media packs found on the internet)

1) In order to research my chosen genre I have read magazines on my chosen genre(XXL and Source). I have also seen what types of adverts the have to offer in their magazines to see what my target audience want to see. I have also made a questionnaire to see what my customers want in my magazine.

2) In order to research existing magazines, I have looked at online blogs such as Soul Culture which specialises in R 'n' B this helps me find out what are the right sort of artists to write about.

3) In order to investigate my target audience's needs and desires I have created a questionnaire which is going to be completed my many people so I can get a rough idea of what my target audience wants to see.

4) In order to conduct better primary research I need to create more questions on my questionnaire to get a finer detail of what my targhet audience wants. To make it better I could also make a focus group to find out what the target market want.

5) To be able to make more secure decisions

Wednesday, 25 September 2013

Aim: To consider what makes good market research and start a draft of a questionare to help me plan my magazine

How do you make an effective questionnaire?

  • Make sure that the question is well explained
  • Give examples to show what the effect will look like
  • Give every answer possible including an ''other''(Please Specify)
  • Make the questionnaire a maximum of 2 word answers
  • Tell the person how to answer the question
  • Ask questions in a logical order
  • Use precise wording to force a decision (Prefer)
  • Use numbers to measure their agreement of something
  • Ask what you want to know
  • Ask precise questions not vague ones
  • Control how they respond
  • limit the amount of responses

Likert Scale measures the respondents attitude to the subject

E.G Hip-Hop music can cause violence among its audience:
 1) Strongly Agree

Racist   1 2 3 4 5 Non Racist

  • Gets an exact view of how people want your magazine to go
  • You can control what you want people to think
  • Its easy to distribute
  • Its quick and easy to do
  • Easy to evaluate
Weaknesses
  • Restrictions
  • Might give inaccurate answers
  • People not answering all questions
  • Might have not gave the right options
  • Little opportunity to explore options further.
  • Too many vague questions

Qualitative- Questions  that are open where people can say anything.

Quantitative- Closed questions easier to handle.

Job Titles and Teams

This Information is taken from the October/November edition of XXL

The magazine I compared this with was NME.
The jobs listed are different because they focus on different areas on music and need different roles in the job to make sure their magazine is suited to their audience.
They both list the job types such as: Production Director, Publisher and President.
They both use the words ''Editor'' ''Director'' ''Manager''
